Hi Everyone, This isnt a cable issue or moth issue because I have tried multiple. This seems to be an app issue. When I plug in the audiomoths to the computer the new updated app recognises it and I can configure a schedule and press configure, at which point it changes from 1970 to the current time, however the app is continually flashing black and grey and the audiomoth green configure button flashes to a state where you can press it and cant. The result is that the schedule is set but not the time. I have tried the older version of the app and it doesnt do this and works fine. Has anyone else had similar issues?

Hi Everyone, We will be attaching the Aquarian H3 Hydrophone to the audio moth dev using the 3.5mm end, I've seen the H2 model suggested as compatible, but has anyone trialed the H3 yet? We require something lighter hence our reason for the H3. I also wanted to ask about sensitivity for underwater recordings, is altering the gain on the audiomoth enough to pick up a good signal underwater (we are recording in a lake setting, so fresh water), or do we need to look at pre-amplification devices? What do people set their gain to when doing underwater work? Sorry I'm a terrestrial biologist and I'm new to under water work so its all a little new to me :)

Hello. So I thought the audiomoth has a directional microphone but it appears from a post below that its omni. But my question is what does this really mean since its housed in a box? Does it have a 180 degree field of hearing? Can it hear behind it at all where the batteries and cases may block sound? How do I achieve 360 field of hearing? Will i get this from one audiomoth or since the way the microphone is housed is it really only directional? I ask because I am working out detection distance for my species and so I need to work detection space from this. My species is a primate so I'm wondering if I face it up to the trees then do i get equal sensitivity in all directions? Thank you

Does anyone know what it means when its on default and has been recording continously and then the red light stops flashing and remains on permenantly?

Sorry this is a question for a bit of advice about field methods but I couldnt find a section for this. Has anyone used audio moth to assess presence of wildlife at varying distances from roads and houses? I cant see any literature on it and its something I am trying to do there is one point I am stuck on. It is to assess primate presence and I will be putting them on the road, at 50 m, 100m, 300m and 600m from the road, the issue I have is that these primates can be heard around 200m away from the moth. So is there a way to know if they are close to the device (within 20-30m)? I have read about triangulation but I would need to catch them on 3 or more devices for this to work so I am looking for another solution. The only thing I can think is pointing the device up at the sky to reduce the detection distance, any thoughts? Thanks :)

Hi, I have managed to get hama to sponsor my SD cards for the audiomoths. I am confused about which one you recommend, this is the one I have found and as its cheaper I think they will prefer to sponsor this. Can you tell me if this okay for 48khz and could it go to 92 if needed maybe? https://uk.hama.com/00124151/hama-microsdhc-32gb-class-10-uhs-i-80mb-s-+-adapter-photo Or is is this one that you recommend, this is triple the price but the last thing I was is to get out there and they not work- https://uk.hama.com/00124151/hama-microsdhc-32gb-class-10-uhs-i-80mb-s-+-adapter-photo Thank you Jenna

Hi Audio Moth, After trialing your devices I would like to now order 75 but I really need them with the case that was going to be made due to working in the tropics. Has this case been made and if not do you know when it will be made? I will need the devices in my hands in September so do you think there will be a round 4 soon after number 3? I have also run out of the small plastic bags, do you recommend a bag that we can purchase in the shops? Thanks Jenna

Hi, This is specifically for the team who worked out in Belize. I am doing a similar project in Costa Rica and will be using the information I collect on spider monkeys to correlate this to gunshots. I would be interested to learn more about your work out there? have you published? If not is it possible to see your reports and to know more about your analysis of the gun shots, your algorithms.....Potentially I do not need to create a training database since you may already have one if you are happy to share this? Best wishes. Jenna

Hello, I'm having a lot of problems with SD cards. I started with 3 audiomoths and 3 kingston SDHC 1 cards 32GB, all three worked and I got data back after my field work days. The second trial of 4 days, one produced no audio recordings and the other recorded for one day and then stopped after that. One worked fine and I have data, this SD card is still working well in the devices. Both these SD cards, the one that produced no data and one day worth of data have data on them but I just cannot delete anything from them, it takes minutes to delete one file and they now do not record anything when I put them in the audio moths, they flash red for a minute as if they are recording then stop for about 20 seconds and when you put them in to check the data there is nothing on them. I have a sandisk ultra 64GB SDXC1 that refuses to be recognised by the devices, it just flashes green and red and I just brought a Toshiba SDHC 10, this is even stranger, it flashes and records for one minute each time for put it in and set it on custom or default and then just stops recording, although the red light flashes faintly still. Its not the audio moth as im getting the same results what ever device I put them in, its the cards. What am I doing wrong, I formatted them first and Im only recording at 48 khz. Help me what am I doing wrong!!!

Hello, The audiomoths are not changing to my computers time when they are connected so it still says 1970. I tried to download the timesetter app but this doesnt work and says it cannot run on my system, is there a reason for this? I have windows 10. If the app wont work on my computer and I cant get the time to configure when I plug it in is it a problem for now as I'm in the field and need to deploy them tomorrow? The files when I take the off the audiomoth are also not in the right order and I have to reorder them based on date modified, but i dont think this is an issue. Thanks. Jenna

Hello, This is more of a scientific question that support with the actual device. I need to find out the detection distance of the device for the spider monkeys that I am studying. This is much more complicated than I first thought as the detection distance will vary based on not only distance and height (which is easy to test) but it will vary based on the loudness (dB) of the call and frequency. So I have to test several different calls of varying dB and frequency. What I think I need to do is to play different calls of the monkeys into the speakers at different heights, distances and dB levels however I dont know the dB of the speakers or spider monkeys. I did find that some speakers state their dB level and watt which has a rough conversion but I dont know if this is something I can use. Does anyone know if there is a reliable conversion from watt to dB or another way to know this? Or does anyone know how I measure the dB and frequency of prerecorded spider monkey calls, or maybe I cannot even use prerecorded calls? I also found a paper on measuring detection distances but they dont account for any of these questions as they never actually discuss the sound used. If anyone has any advice on this or has solved these issues already any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you. Jenna

Hi Everyone, I configured one audiomoth a few days ago and it worked perfectly. Today I tried to configure the rest and when I get to the stage of connecting the audiomoth the time and IS/battery is still greyed out. I have it switched to USB/off and it is flashing green to say its connected but its still greyed out and wont let me configure, help! Thank you

Hi everyone, I am just about to take my audiomoths out for my PhD fieldwork and am configuring them. Does anyone know what the 'gain' and 'sleep duration' and 'recording durations' are. I cant seem to find what they mean in the guide. I basically want it to record for the entire period that I set it to record for 5am-9am, I want it to record continuously for this period. Thanks for your advice Jenna
