Is Standard GPS Time Setting Sufficient for Sub-Second Sync Across AudioMoth Devices?

Hi everyone,

I’m working with multiple AudioMoth Dev (with GPS) units and I need precise, synchronized recordings across devices.

Instead of using the GPS-Sync-Firmware, I am wondering if I can use the Standard Firmware 1.11 and the Configuration App. In the Configuration App I’ve enabled:

  • Enable GPS time setting: Yes

  • GPS fix before and after: Recording periods

  • GPS fix time (mins): 10

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I had missed the PDF, sorry.

If I understand correctly, the AudioMoth GPS Sync firmware consumes more power because the GPS remains continuously active, compared to using GPS with the Standard Firmware configuration. So, it’s essentially a trade-off between timing accuracy and power consumption, is that correct?

dBFS transformation to dBA

Does know of a step-by-step process for converting dBFS recorded on AM's to dBA? I have the frequency band breakdown for each recodrded file and had Moths set with low gain and a 48kHz sample rate (not sure if these factors are relevant). Thanks in advance...hopefully!

We hadn't thought of doing but we could consider it. AudioMoth tends to get deployed in a range of different housings, so those would need to be calibrated in order order to give meaningful values.
