Rooster Crow

Hi everyone,

I know most of the posts here are about bats- mine’s not nearly as cool… just trying to pick up a rooster.

Recorder works fine- good audio, running it through BirdNET.

Right now I’m running continuous with mostly default settings so I don’t miss anything, but it’s creating a ton of files and picking up way more other birds/noise than I need.

I’d like to move to a trigger setup and get it dialed in for something like a rooster- strong enough to catch it at 100–200 ft, but not recording everything else.

Can anyone help me dial in the settings? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris, If you have existing recording you can try out the effect of amplitude and frequency triggers in AudioMoth Play - https://play.openacousticdevices.info/.

Bat/Bird detector settings not working?

Hello,

I have recently deployed an audiomoth near me to test whether it could detect and record bat and or bird calls.

I set it up so that it had a trigger of 1kHz as I dont want it to record human voices. But after a weekend of recording I have found that everything was recorded which resulted in recordings of 11 hours each day.

I have messed around and even changed the filter type to a band and to only trigger when it detects a sound above 20kHz and it still records human voice. Im guessing there is something I am missing.

So my question is, how do I set up the audiomoth using the configuration app to only record sounds above a certain frequency? And is there a way to set it so that when a trigger (for example, over 15kHz) it will record for 30 seconds and…

Audio Trigger

Hi folks. Just looking for clarification/confirmation that the audio trigger feature can be used on audible frequencies and not only ultrasonic? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use amplitude and frequency triggering at any sample rate and detect any frequency. If you some examples of un-triggered recordings, you can upload them to AudioMoth Play (https://play.openacousticdevices.info) and experiment with the settings. Alex
