Do we know if there exists (for any reason) variability between AudioMoth devices? In other words, is it possible that AudioMoth devices placed in the same spatial and temporal location and configured identically can record differently?

I record bats and perhaps small differences, for example internal hardware noise, could influence analyses done with identification software (e.g. R's Random Forest).

Thanks for any clarification.

Hi, There will definately be some sensitivity differences between devices due to microphone aging, component tolerances and small directional differences even when co-located. How significant these are will really depend on your processing chain so it's hard to characterise. It would definately be useful to deploy some co-located devices so that you can measure this difference in your application. Alex
