Hello all,


We were using AudioMoths to record sounds until they would run out of batteries or fill upp the SDcards. However, all the devices had stopped recording after ~20 days, although the SDcards still had space.


The battery voltage was 3.3V at the start of the last recordings. Could it be that the low voltage was the reason for the abrupt but simultaneously timed stopping? Should this still be enough to continue or can the voltage dip too low during the last recording and the opportunistic scanning before the next recording period?


We used bird sound frequency recording for 1 min every 10 min and inbetween these scanning for bat sound frequencies with opportunistic recordings. Our CONFIG.txt file did not set the time/day limit for the recordings but were meant to continue indefinitely.


I would be very greatful for any suggestions/ideas what could have resulted in this in order to prevent this occurring in our future sampling.

Hi Mira,

What type of batteries are these? If they are alkaline, then 3.3V is effectively depleted. Can you use the 'Summarise AudioMoth Files' option in the Config App to generate a summary of the contents of one of the SD cards. This will generate a SUMMARY.CSV file which will show the battery voltage over the deployment period. What make and model of SD card are you using? The energy consumption of different makes and models SD card can vary significantly.
