Deleted files?
Hello everyone,
My team recently checked our audiomoth SD cards that we turn on for an hour twice daily. They had not recorded new files for about 2 weeks and all old files are now take up 0 Bytes of space and do not play any audio. We reconfigured new cards that are now working, but want to recover old files and avoid this issue again. Any ideas or tips on how to recover and keep our data safe?
Also, some files and our configuration now say to have been recorded in 2098?

Recovering files from an SD card is actually pretty easy. First, do not do anything that would write to the card before attempting the recovery. I have recently used 2 tools to recover files from corrupted cards with total success. Robocopy can often see files that the system doesn't, so if you know the directory structure you can style a command to copy the files to your system. Photorec recovers files directly from the SD card sectors so the names are lost. Since the WAV files have that information, it is not a total problem. I also discovered when dealing with a card that would not even mount that different SD card readers may work when others don't. I had the best success with Wavlink WL-UMD325 powered hub. It allowed me to retrieve a year's data from a card that wasn't even seen with other SD card readers on the same computer. Robocopy took 4 days to recover all the files from one SD card. Photorec did it in a few hours.
