Chime and device not being recognized

Hello,

First I will explain the protocol we've been working on, which is a bit long (sorry for that) and then I will explain the problem. We are working with a project called LifePlan and have been following the protocol for setting the Audiomoths as follows:

"To start the first recording,

  1. In the LIFEPLAN app, select "Place", and then scan the AudioMoth QR code and the microSD card QR code on the microSD card.

  2. Insert the microSD card in the Audiomoth.

  3. Insert charged batteries.

  4. Set the correct UTC time with the Clock app: switch to DEFAULT mode and play the chime from the app until the green flashing light stops flashing and stays on.

  5. Switch to CUSTOM to start recording.

  6. Put the recorder in its waterproof case, with the microphone symbol aligned with the grey acoustic vent. Close the case and mount it with the strap."

and for the weekly samplings

"At each audio recorder:

  1. Switch AudioMoth to USB/OFF

  2. Wait for red light to stop blinking. If a green light is on or blinking it is not switched to USB/OFF, please check the switch position.

  3. Remove the microSD card. In the LIFEPLAN app, select "Collect", and then scan the AudioMoth QR code and the microSD card QR code.

  4. Put the collected microSD card in its adapter for safekeeping

  5. In the LIFEPLAN app, select "Place", and then scan the AudioMoth QR code and the microSD card QR code on the new, empty card.

  6. Insert the new microSD card in the Audiomoth.

  7. Replace batteries.

  8. Set the correct UTC time with the Clock app

- switch to DEFAULT mode, the green light should blink"

Now, the problem is that we tried to follow the weekly sampling protocol but it is flashing the red and green lights, indicating there is no schedule set in the device. So, we tired to play the chime again to configure it, but the device is not recognizing the chime. Then, we attempted to connect the device in USB/off mode to set the time and schedule by hand, but the computers are not recognizing the device. When we take the batteries off, the device flashes the green light but still the laptop and the Audiomoth-config app are not recognizing it.

Apologies for the long post! hope to hear from you soon :)

Hello Alex!

I'll join this topic, since I have similar problem with Lifeplan firmware/configuration.

I do not participate in the Lifeplan project, but their recording schedule is what I'd like to use during some of my field research projects.

So, having my own AM I followed all the steps in the instruction to upload and run Lifeplan firmware. I succeed - the Flash App (as well as Configuration App and Time App) correctly recognise the Lifeplan firmware as well as unit ID number.

But, trying to set correct time with Chime App, the AM green LED blinks bit faster (can "hear" the chime?), but nothing else. Repetition the chime does not work.

I solved this problem using Time App - green led light constantly.

And finally - switching to CUSTOM mode red and green led flashes in that manner (from instruction): A long flash (500ms) of both LEDs occurs when there is a recording failure, due to an SD card write error or a low battery, that results in a recording being cut short.

All batteries or accu's I've used were new or charged. I tried different SD HC cards, formatting them and so on.

Even I tried to rewrite CONFIG file, checking syntax in few JSON validators, writing or not quotation marks and so on.

Nothing has happened, all the time green and red lights blinking.

Could it be problem of AM version? I have 1.1 one.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Marcin
