External triggering of AudioMoth Dev using a PIR sensor relay
I am interested in using some AudioMoth Dev boards to record sounds of Arctic foxes on dens. The sounds can be rather mute, so rather than relying on sound triggering (based on amplitude and frequency), I would like to trigger recording whenever general animal activity is recorded on the den via PIR sensor relay. Has anyone done something like this before? As I understand it will require specialized firmware? Best regards,

We've done this with a couple of partners using custom firmware which triggers the AudioMoth from a GPIO pin being pulled high or low. We also have a new add-on board that electronically operates the switch of the AudioMoth Dev so you can switch from USB/OFF to DEFAULT to record whenever you like with the standard
Do you know which PIR sensor you would use? In other projects we've developed low-energy PIR sensors that could also potentially be connected to AudioMoth. Alex
