USB microphone

I have been using the USB microphone with batty birdnet pi for about a year. The mic is mounted outdoors shielded from rain and in is case. The other day the mic failed. The LED on it would still flash but it would not register as a USB device on a computer. I replaced the mic with a spare and the system is back to working. I looked a the failed mic and there is evidence that it failed due to condensation. I know it would add to the cost but having it conformal coated would help with this problem.

Hi James, The HydroMoth boards are conformal coated and it seems to make a difference there so we'll look at options of the USB board. For you application you might also potentially find the AudioMoth External Microphone useful - https://www.openacousticdevices.info/product-page/audiomoth-external-microphone. It has a waterproof vent and makes it easy to make the whole setup watertight. Alex
