A lot of microSD card adapters are mechanically fragile, and catch the back edge or side tab, or the spring lever hasn't moved out of the way. I've had a lot of devices do that to me (and don't get me started on the spring that doesn't latch to hold the card in the first place!!). Sounds like the spring has released the card - but only partially? I'd first try to push the card back in again (to latch) and then release again, possibly a few goes. Followed by a healthy dose of jiggling and tapping that may clear any dust/grit that is holding onto the card or stopping the spring from fully releasing the card. After that, I have a small pair of flat-faced jewellers/electronics pliers that I've sometimes used to push/rotate the card (horizontally!) within the slot mechanism. It only takes a fraction of a millimeter of the latch to stop the card coming out (or locking in).
