We used silica gel bags when there were big temperature changes to reduce condensation but I doubt this really makes much difference. We've not had any other reports of devices failing to make recordings so see if it happens again, and we can try to see if there is any pattern to it.
I am sure.I set the same periods(UTC) as before that are not changed. The first week they worked well after I set .And they became unstable last two week.
See what happens the next few times. What weather conditions are they deployed in? We had one report of a couple of devices that got very hot in direct sun which caused them not to make any recordings. Apart from that they are generally reported to work as intended.
Are you sure you set the recording periods correctly to allow for the local time zone? All the times in the configuration app are UTC times. If they were working, then didn't work, and now work fine, I think there must have been something wrong with the configuration that was set. It's hard to imagine another failure mode that would cause what you observed.
Hi, Did you set the time and the configuration again before you deployed them? If the battery had been removed they would have lost the time and configuration settings, and would not have made any recordings. Do they work correctly on your desk now?
That’s almost certainly the problem them. The clock will also drift slightly over time so it’s always best to reset the time and configuration even if the batteries are left in.
When you switch to CUSTOM mode both LED will flash together if the time and configuration has not been set and no recording will take place.
if the time and configuration have been set you will see just the green LED flashing whilst the AudioMoth waits for the correct time to start recording.
But when I took back the audiomoths, they were all on only green flash.Does that mean the time and configuration has been set? But no recording in them.
@Sheila Wang It suggests that they were working fine and there was some problem with the configuration. Was there enough space on the SD cards? Have you double checked that they work fine now when deployed at your desk?
the 2 time set:5:30-10:00,14:30-19:00.It worked well before. And it also worked at the first time after I reset it (when I found it's out of work). Then I placed them on the field without any change.they can't work.I checked everything before placed them. Yes,3 were all the same questions.
Hi, Can you describe in more detail the settings that you were using originally and what you mean when you say that they didn't work. Did the same thing occur on more than one device? Were there no recordings on the SD card?
The most likely reason is that the battery was dislodged or removed before deployment so the AudioMoth lost it's time setting or configuration. You should see that since when you switch to CUSTOM mode the two LED will flash together, rather than just the green LED telling you that it is waiting to make a recording.
Yes.I put them in the plastic bags.
That is impossible.I deployed them in forest under 20.

Yes,I did.I tried again and again before. But they worked again yesterday! Are they unstable?I think so.
