We've released a new app! The AudioMoth Live App takes audio from any USB microphone and displays a live scrolling waveform and spectrogram, with options to make continuous recordings, monitor the audio input, or apply a heterodyne bat detector to the input.
The AudioMoth Live App works with all USB microphones but is specifically designed to work with AudioMoth USB Microphone firmware, which allows all existing AudioMoth hardware versions to be used as configurable USB microphones.
I have recently purchased the AudioMoth USB and have downloaded the Live App. The lack of a frequency scale is a real issue when used for live recording. I notice that you get a scale line in hetrodyne but moving this scale up and down is slow and relatively ineffective for live recording. I think it is a great app and my main wish would be to have a frequency scale. Are there other apps that can use the AudioMoth USB in a live setting on a Windows tablet?
Potentially quite a useful little app. I would like to make a couple of feature requests if development is to continue.
A frequency scale at the left edge would be useful as a reference
There are several USB microphones on the market with a sample rate of 256000 samples/sec. At present you can only select 250000 and that is the sample rate that is written to the .wav file. 256K would be a more useful alternative, or some way of explicitly setting the device's actual sample rate.
I prefer to view my spectrograms in greyscale, or reverse greyscale - from looking at the code it should be relatively simple to offer alternative colour palettes.
Lookinf forward to seeing some continuing development of this project.
