Hi, I recently discovered the AudioMoth project, and as an environmental educator I'd like to project where I build devices with students (get PCBs printed, place SMD components, reflow-solder etc) before deploying them and then using the data. I know building them ourselves probably won't save money over doing a GroupBuy, but building components for an Open Hardware project ourselves would add an interesting educational component. However, reading a bit here in this forum, it seems that only files for version 1.1.0 are publicly available, and that several hardware components for that one are no longer available. Specifically, it seems that the main MCU (EFM32WG380F256-QFP100) and the MEMS microphone (SPM0408LE5H-TB) are now obsolete. Are drop-in replacements for these components available? Also, I notice some SMD components like resistors and capacitors are probably a bit too small to be manually placed by untrained students. Would it work to replace them with slightly larger ones? Thank you very much for your help, this looks like a fantastic project!
