@Alex Rogers Not sure I did all the steps in the intended saquence... but the firmware version does chan00nge the behaviour. 1. With + current firmware (v.1.6), + SD inserted, + switch on the DEFAULT position + No batteries Then, When connected to USB, - Nothing happens 2. Same, unless + switch on CUSTOM position When connected to USB, + Green LED steady + AM detected by Flash app + change firmware to 1.4.4 successful 3. With firmware v.1.4.4l + SD inserted, + switch on the DEFAULT position, + No batteries When connected to USB, + Red LED flashing until switch back to OFF position. CONFIG.TXT and .WAV file recorded on SD card. .WAV file has 106 seconds of noise ( no audio) and silence for the rest of the file. It seems the different behaviours are reproductible, so there must be some logic implied.. But it's beyond my understanding. Its 'brother' (Round 7 IIRC) has no such problems (suffers only of weak recording level, 1 or 2 steps lower than others). Still in hope it will be usable this summer.... Pierre

@Alex Rogers Well, this AudioMoth is seen by the Flash App if the switch is on the CUSTOM position when being connected by USB to a Windows PC. No need for paper clip. The green LED is lit and steady. Firmware 1.6 is detected. I could flash firmware 1.8 and revert back to 1.6. No change in either version: steady red + blinking green when the switch is on USB/OFF position (center). And no reaction when 'hearing' the settime chime. Could it be some dust or some moisture inside the switch ?

Well... I'll try that tonite. Firmware should be 1.6. Could have it been lost ?

Hi Alex The behaviour is the same when connected to a PC with the switch on USB/OFF. Solid red and flashing green. LEDs go off wben the switch is changed and do not come back when switch is returned to USB/OFF position. AM is not seen by the config app nor by the timesetting app. This AM was used in March, last time on 2022/03/22 and the recordings were fine. Installed at home in a container and in protected place. It was reconfigured a week/ 10 days ago and it seems everything went fine too. Since then it has been kept indoor and it looks 'as new.

@Alex Rogers It seems I'm having the same problem with an AudioMoth 1.2.0 (did not see then this topic so I opened a new one). Solid red + flashing green with the switch on USB/OFF and doesn't react to the time setting chime. Firmware is 1.6

@Agustin Lobo I'm using Samsung Evo Plus Micro SDXC CLASS10 U3 128GB. They can be purchased for about 13 € each on the Net. AudioMoth's (Firmware 1.6) seem happy with them: closing file+creating new file takes consistently less than 2 seconds so for recording 30 minutes slices the duty cycle can be 1798+2 (instead of 1796+4 with 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro).

That persistence of the settings is a real 'plus' in the case of long duration surveys. Just go and swap batteries and memory, set time and it's done. Thanks for having implemented that !

@Adrien CHARBONNEAU You could schedule recording 3555s + 5s sleep. Then split the wav files when retrieving them from SD card to disc. This can be done either with the tool in Configuration App or with a third party software (eg. Kaleidoscope). This can take some time though, depending on computer power and disc/memory performances. That would loose recording only 5 seconds per hour.

When powered on again it waits for the time setting. Can be done with Time App or the mobile App (play the chime). Works well on 1.0.0 hardware. Guess it is working on subsequent versions as well. Hi Alex The same situation here with Win7 and AudioMoth firmware above 1.4.n When AudioMoth is plugged in, Device Manager reports it but there is a warning on the driver: Not installed, code 28. Attempts to update the driver fail with 'No driver found' message. Installation from EFM32-Cdc.inf is not possible (Method not allowed). Except for this warning, app operations seem to go as expected, either firmware upgrade or configuration. So... unless there is a simple remedy, I'll let it go that way.

Well... nice to know. What could I do then to make that working, I don't know.

There was a "CDC Abstract Control Model" in error but it disppeared after checking for new devices. Is that related to AudioMoth communication ? Looks more like a Samsung related bit.

Well... I don't see any AudioMoth driver listed under the USB bus controllers. Either with or without an AudioMoth connected. Maybe has it another name ? Maybe I'm not looking at the right place ? Time and Config apps see it when connected though.

Hi Alex I'm using Win 7 Pro. To allow downloading the .bin again I just renamed the existing one in the Download folder. I just installed the Flash App v1.0.2 and I can't see any difference: AudioMoth is seen as 1.3, flashing 1.4 seems to go fine (progress bar, restarting AudioMoth, success message) but then AudioMoth is not seen. Reverted again to firmware 1.3, reconfigured and all seems to be correct. Pierre

Hi I'll jump into this thread, as I noticed a similar behaviour. Usually I power my AudioMoths on NiMH rechargeable batteries. Connecting to PC, setting time and configuration just go as expected. With 3 fully charged batteries, both utility tools see 3.9 or 4.0 V. On my 2 Round 5 AudioMoth's with new Alkaline batteries inserted, when connecting to PC, the green LED lights steady for a couple seconds, then goes off and Windows 7 alerts on "Unknown Device". No way to connect and configure the AudioMoth. I decided not to worry about that as 2600 mAh NiMH give enough autonomy for my usage. Now I received the Round 7 AudioMoth's. Connecting to the same Windows 7 laptop, setting time and configuring, all go fine, also when powerd on new Alkalines. Voltage displays at 4.8 V. So my guess is that on Round 5 devices there is some sort of an antagony effect when powering on both USB (rated 5 V, I've not measured) and batteries (4.8V) that make the PC expect someting else than it sees. Hi Peter Alex's procedure (Oct 25, 2018) to install the driver onto a Win7 was successful. Thank you ! Updating the firmware was then as easy as described. After that, setting time and recording parametres on the AudioMoth went as usual. Thanks all again. Pierre
