I can see that some international orders for the AudioMoth case have had unusually high import duties. Generally these should be 20% of the subtotal for Europe (other countries may vary). If you have paid more than 20% import duties please email me at matt@groupgets.com with your order number and receipt with the tax you paid (from FedEx, DHL, or customs). Also if anyone has received any tax invoice/document/anything with a breakdown of the tax cost I would like to see this, I am working to fix any problems for future rounds of AudioMoth or cases, and it would be helpful to see why some of the import duties were so much higher than they should have been. Any orders from Round 10 of AudioMoth that are in Europe will not have to pay import duties, we charged 20% to Europe customers during checkout and used a shipment forwarder in Europe (so we pay the duties up front in one bulk shipment). Order placed outside of Europe may have to pay import duties. For round 11 we are doing all shipping from the US and are not charging the import duties up front. Any international orders will have to pay import duties when the shipment reaches your countries customs. Usually you would receive a notice from the shipping company (FedEx or DHL) or your countries customs office. We have decided to ship all orders ourselves since our forwarder was not packaging the products very well (like what andya experienced), using them was adding 1-3 weeks delay, the tracking for the service they use is not great, and we were able to lower our shipping rates from the carriers we use worldwide to more reasonable prices. We are also adding multiple notices to our website during the checkout process to hopefully make it more clear that import duties are not included in the shipping costs, these should be up in a day.

Hello, Here are some answers to the questions above: AudioMoth GroupGet Campaigns For the AudioMoth GroupGet campaigns import duties/VAT is added during checkout for anyone in the UK or EU, the rate added is 20% of the subtotal: We ship the units for EU/UK orders to a company in Europe in one or two large bulk shipments, they then ships out all of the EU/UK orders. This is to reduce the cost of the shipping in Europe from what it used to be, and we pay the Import Duties/VAT in one big payment rather than every customer having to pay customs for each of their orders (which would usually take much longer). Shipping times are generally fairly quick for Europe due to those orders only having to go through customs all at once rather than each individual country and order in Europe (processing times can vary greatly in customs depending on the country). All other orders in the world are shipped directly from GroupGets in the USA, those orders outside of the US and not in Europe would be responsible for any import duties. Those should be generally fairly fast shipments, although depending on the country custom processing could be 1 day to 30 days (although if you use DHL as a shipping method this is generally much faster through customs). Shipments within the US only pay tax currently if the order is placed in Nevada where we are based. GroupGets Store All orders outside of the USA are responsible for any import duties or taxes when the order reaches the destination country. The tax rate would vary by each individual country and the product type. Shipping is generally very fast if you choose DHL or another fast shipping type from FedEx such as International Priority or USPS Priority Mail Express. We personally recommended DHL as it is generally the fastest shipping method, and it generally goes through customs much faster than FedEx or USPS. As long as you have a correct phone number and email on your order, DHL or customs will contact you with whatever the import duties cost. Once they are paid the order will make the last part of the journey to the order recipient. Shipments within the US only pay tax currently if the order is placed in Nevada where we are based.
