I am doing a long term study, leaving the moths out for 2 weeks and changing the SD cards when I have calculated that they will fill up. For my last deployment, I fully formatted the SD cards (Magix brand) and double checked that they were empty. I had no issues with these SD cards the first time they were deployed.
However, when I got to the moths this time around, they were flashing green and red simultaneously, implying SD card issues. Some of the SD cards only wrote the first 2 days, and others only wrote the first day.
It is maybe the fault of my study design that I change the cards so irregularly, but given these SD cards worked perfectly the first round, and were definitely formatted and configured correctly (ExFAT), I'm struggling to understand what went wrong.
Not being able to identify the problem means I am not sure how to fix it, and I don't want to lose anymore data
TIA!
Experiencing SD card write issues can be frustrating. Your meticulous study deserves reliable data. Perhaps the irregular swaps are a factor, but the initial success throws a wrench in that theory. Could file system corruption be at play? This reminds me of the challenges in Slope Game, where even a small misstep leads to a restart. Maybe try a different brand of SD card or formatting tool, ensuring complete data erasure before redeployment.
Hi, Can you use the 'Summarise AudioMoth Files' option in the Config App to generate a summary of the contents of the SD card and also post the CONFIG.TXT file that was used. What exact make and model of SD card and battery were you using? Alex
