New data cable, reformatted card, computer recognises connection, configuration okay. Followed initial setup several times. Will NOT record in either custom or default settings. Now what??
1) Take the batteries out, unplug the USB cable and put the switch into the USB/OFF position.
2) Wait 30 seconds.
3) Put batteries back in. Can you confirm what batteries you are using - exact make and model.
4) Put SD card back in. Can you confirm exactly what make and model SD card it is and what format it is formatted as.
5) Move switch to 'DEFAULT'. The AudioMoth should immediately start recording and the red LED will flash. If both LED are flashing there is a problem writing to the SD card.
6) After 30 seconds put switch to 'USB/OFF' and check the recording that should be on the SD card.
I have done as you asked. The batteries are Duracell Alkaline each producing 1.592 volts. The card is a Sandisk Extreme 64GB USH-1 microSDXS, U3, class 10. The card has been formatted exFAT to which the Windows 10 Home computer defaulted. After reinstalling the batteries and then reinserting the memory card I set the switch to default. I had both red and green LED blinking for a few seconds, and then only the green LED about once a second. Still no evidence of recording.
I switched out the card with a Sandisk Ultra (FAT) 16GB HC-1 card for another application and I immediately got a pulsing red LED. Thank you... and a recording!! So now I can move on, replace the faulty one, and determines how many more units will suit my needs. If you have suggestions regarding a more appropriate card I would be happy to learn from you.
Can you confirm which firmware version is installed - it shown at the top of the Config App. Only version 1.2.2 support exFAT formatted SD cards. Where did this AudioMoth come from?
Yes. It is Firmware version 1.2.1 and I just received it a few days ago from GroupGets presumably from round 8 production. Thank you for getting to the bottom of this. Now I will need your guidance to update the firmware. Is this the Flashing process?
@Russ Wigh The instructions are here - https://www.openacousticdevices.info/flashing. They should be straightforward. If you have troubler with the AudioMoth responding during the flashing process try reading the serial number a couple of times before writing the firmware. We're working on a GUI-based application that will make this a bit more straightforward.
@Alex Rogers I can see your update, but when I clicked on Github (latest release) it immediately brought up a Windows Defender notice that some file was infected with a trojan virus - which was removed. I have zero experience with this issue. Is your file AudioMoth1.2.2.bin now safe to download?

Actually the 64GB card worked well in a DSLR camera.

That's annoying. The Round 8 devices should all have had version 1.2.2 installed.
