I am trying to configure my recorder, and I've run into some trouble configuring the date and time. The time is off by approximately two hours and the date won't change from 1/1/1970. I've tried using 3 different USB cables and 2 laptops (Mac and Windows OS). It's still not working. What do you recommend?
Thank you!

Hi, Does it work correctly in UTC mode? Is the local time zone really UTC +5.5? If so, that's probably the problem as the firmware doesn't support fractional timezones. Alex
Hi, it doesn't work even in UTC mode, when not set to my computer's local time. Here is a screenshot.
Yes, I'm in India, so it is indeed UTC + 5.5. I tried changing my computer's local time to Eastern Standard Time (5:26 AM EST and 9:25 AM UTC at the moment) and it didn't work. Screenshot below.
Also, I'm concerned about the date not changing either.
Thank you!
Pooja
Have you pushed the ‘Configure AudioMoth’ button to set the time?
Hey Alex, I hadn't clicked the 'Configure Audiomoth' button since I assumed it'd configure to the incorrect time shown in the window. I just tried it again and I got the correct time. Thanks!
Great. The display always shows the current time on the device and this isn’t set to the computer time until the device is configured. This is useful for checking the clock drift after a long deployment. The device doesn’t support fractional time zones so will actually get set to UTC+5. You don’t need to adjust the recording times that you set though - set the to the correct local or UTC time. We‘ll look at supporting fractional times in future versions - you’re our first user in this situation. Alex
Will keep that in mind. Thanks, again!
Hi Alex, I tested the recorder over the last two days. I was going through the recordings, and I found something odd with the date and time of recording. The recorder skipped the recording at 6:50 and 7:00 PM. The recorder was configured to the local time on my computer, which is Indian Standard Time (UTC + 5.5).
Thank you,
Pooja
That's very strange. There is a corrupted file with the filename '20190603_064328.WAV' that didn't complete writing properly. This probably delayed the start of the next write so it skipped the missing period. What make and model of SD card are you using?
@Alex Rogers Hi Alex, The SD card I'm using is the one recommended on this website. Sandisk Extreme Plus 32 GB micro SD.
Hi, We haven't seen this before and its hard to imagine a mechanism other than the SD card write being corrupted for some reason that would cause it. I assume all the other recordings are fine?
Can you send me that file - alex.rogers@cs.ox.ac.uk. I might be about to see why it stopped early and started at a strange time.
Just to close the loop, these issues turned out to be recordings that were made when the switch was moved from CUSTOM back to USB/OFF when SD cards were switched out. The switch probably over-shot into DEFAULT mode so that the AudioMoth started to make an immediate recording and then stopped when the switch was moved to USB/OFF.
Same problem here (app v1.2.2) : local time adjusts only to UTC difference but date stays on 01/01/1970.
The time it is showing is the current time on the device. If the time is changing, then the communication with the device is fine, and you just need to push the 'Configure AudioMoth' button to actually set the time on the device. The time will then show the correct time.
