I'm trying to set up an audiomoth but everytime I connect the device to my laptop the time on the configuration app (1.2.4) remains grey. I read that it could be a USB cable problem. But the same USB cable works fine on the laptop of my supervisor. Could there be anything wrong with my settings?

What operating system are you using? Is the switch on the AudioMoth definitely in the USB/OFF position?
I'm using Windows 10. And the switch is defenitely in the USB/OFF position

yes, it works fine on another laptop
It's probably a driver problem on your machine. I would restart Windows. Plug in the AudioMoth with the switch in USB/OFF and observe the tray in the bottom right corner. It should find the USB device and report something about installing the appropriate driver.
When you say the USB cable works fine on your supervisor's laptop, are you testing it with the app there? Are you using the same app version on it?
My supervisor is using version 1.2.3 of the application and I'm using version 1.2.4. Restarting it did'nt help unfortunately
I've another question. Will I have to configurate the device each time I change the batteries of the audiomoth in the field?
Version 1.2.3 of the firmware is available here - https://github.com/OpenAcousticDevices/AudioMoth-Configuration-App/releases/tag/1.2.3. Would you be able to confirm if the newest version - 1.2.5 - works correctly on your supervisors machine, and it version 1.2.3 works on your machine. There should be no substantial difference between these versions.
