Hi guys,
when i set the clock for the AudioMoth via App or Timesetter (windows version), it doens't take the (modified?) system clock but GMT+0, while my system is set at GMT+2 (+1 and daylight savings time adjustment). Is there a problem at my end? When i change my system clock to anything else, AudioMoth still takes GMT+0 time. Where does it get it's time from?
Regards,
Felix
Hi Felix,
In order to avoid time zone issues which come from deploying devices for long periods which possibly cross Daylight Savings adjustment times, the AudioMoth uses UTC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time), a time standard which happens to line up with GMT+0 and does not adjust for Daylight Savings.
The app is getting its time from your machine, but as your machine is aware it is currently operating in GMT+2, it is converting the time back into UTC. You have to adjust the times you wish to operate in to UTC when you enter them into the app and read the resulting recordings.
I hope I've cleared this issue up,
Peter
