Time stamps corresponding to sounds

I'm playing around with using AudioMoths for my Master's thesis. I have GPS tagged animals and I'm looking to use the AudioMoths to be able to correlate sounds of disturbance (loud banging, construction, etc.) to animal movement. The GPS tags are time stamped and ideally I'd like to be able to align the time stamps from the GPS with time stamps of noises - is that possible using the AudioMoth Play software when uploading the .wav file?

In AudioMoth Play, you can display real time on the x axis by clicking the grey "Settings" cog on the bottom right of the visualisations and checking "Display real time on x axis". Note that AudioMoth time will drift without GPS synchronisation, so you may need to add a GPS module to the AudioMoths for the GPS tag data to perfectly align with the audio.

AudioMoth time will drift about +/-1 second a day and this rate would vary depending on environmental factors, such as temperature.

If the AudioMoth GPS modules were used, you would be able to log this drift accurately. Otherwise current AudioMoth time can be displayed using the AudioMoth Configuration App giving the total drift.

I see! Thank you - unfortunately my project funds do not have the capacity to support purchasing 16 GPS modules in addition to the devices ..

When using the AudioMoth Configuration App - the device must be plugged in in order to get current time correct?

Yes, the device must be plugged in by USB, and the AudioMoth batteries must still be present and have capacity since the deployment. AudioMoth time resets when power is lost. You can compare the time on the AudioMoth Configuration App to the current time on your PC.
