Dear AudioMoth community,
I have recently started working with 16 new AudioMoths, all with a GPS hat soldered to them. I must thank the team for all the clear instructions for this device, it has been great figuring out the ins and outs of the AudioMoth.
I am currently in the process of testing all the AudioMoths. I have configured all with the appropriate software (GPS-Sync 1.1.2) and tested their ability to record. I have 1 AudioMoth that shows strange behaviour. I was able to flash it, configure it, make scheduled and unscheduled recordings (DEFAULT and CUSTOM mode), but the LED lights do not seem to work (excl. the LED of the GPS hat). It does not flash its LEDs when recording or when plugged into the computer. So far, I have seen no LED lights flashes.
So far, I have tried a couple of things:
Reinstalled the firmware (GPS-Sync 1.1.2)
Tried different firmware (AudioMoth-Firmware-Basic). With the standard firmware, I made sure that the EnableLed box was checked.
Performed a manual switch. Again, no lights during and after this step.
Checked its exterior for any damage but I see nothing unusual. It was configured and handled just like all the other functioning AudioMoths.
Is there anything else I could try? I am a bit worried it might be the hardware at this point. Luckily, the AudioMoth records but I would love to figure out the cause of this behaviour.
Thanks in advance!
Hi, Can you try taking a zoomed-in photo of where the LED are? It sounds like an assembly problem and the LED may be misplaced or not present at all. The easiest way to test the LED is to switch to DEFAULT without an SD card fitted and the AudioMoth should flash both LED. Alex
