Hi, is there a recommended 3.5mm jack to solder onto the AudioMoth 1.2.0 that is in stock?
SJ2-35464A-SMT-TR is out of stock for all suppliers
Related to https://www.openacousticdevices.info/support/device-support/possible-alternative-jack?origin=auto_suggest, where https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/cui-devices/SJ2-35355A-SMT-TR/6619596 is used, but no report on if it works or if its recommended. That product doesn't have the geometry where the pads will lay flat onto the AudioMoth to be soldered.
Here's one with the desired geometry: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/tensility-international-corp/54-00178/12140149
It seems like most TR solder-on jack alternatives with similar geometry would work fine, but not sure if the pinout varies or if there are other considerations.
Thanks
I looked up the company (CUI now same sky) that made the prior 3.5mm jacks and this seems to be their newest device that appears the most similar - https://www.mouser.ch/datasheet/2/1628/sj3_35013a_smt_tr-3510671.pdf It looks like the spacing of the contact pads are quite different. It seems plausible that one could build some kind of adapter PCB from the prior SJ2 to this newer version. I'll ask around my work for people that have more hardware design experience than I do.
Alternative parts probably won't work as there is no standard for the pin layout and allocation. However, GroupGets has plenty of stock of the correct audio jack - https://groupgets.com/products/sj2-35464a-smt-tr-3-5mm-socket-for-audiomoth.
