Looking to purchase a device to record and identify Bird in my woodlot in New Brunswick Canada. Presently I use Merlin on my phone when I a working or walking on my trails, but need something more 24/7.
What is the best way to identify the bird speices that where recorded by the AudioMoth. Does the AudioMoth come with software to identify bird sound or is there a third party app or website that can be used?
To review recordings prior to using a bird identification app, you can use AudioMoth Play - https://play.openacousticdevices.info. This is a web-app that generates spectrograms, allows easy exploration of AudioMoth recordings, and can produce videos and WAV clips.
We use BirdNET-Analyzer https://github.com/birdnet-team/BirdNET-Analyzer, it's effectively the same models that Merlin app uses. There is a windows GUI available but in my experience it's far more efficient to use a CLI if your tech skills allow.
