Hi, in all my recordings there's a "clicking" noise (26-28kHz). This is an issue that I had before with some recordings but now the noise is louder and it is present in all recordings. The batteries are Energizer AA (new) and the SD card is the SanDisk Extreme 32GB. Is there Anything I can do to make the "clicking" noise disappear?

Hi, This is one of the challenges of having the MEMS microphone on the same board as the SD card - mechanical noise from the SD card writing generated by expanding and contracting capacitors gets propagated through the board and within a case. This self noise is very much reduced in version 1.2 of the hardware. Some makes of SD are worse than others. We generally use SanDisk Extreme cards. Alex
Hello, I have two AM (1.1.0, Firmware 1.5.0) and both in any case have annoying clicking noise (also in a plastic bag and with different batteries clicking noise is present). Without a case, they work ok. So my thoughts are that this noise comes from AM itself and in a closed environment sound gets trapped and recorded. Without case this faint clicking noise 'fly away' and it is not picked up by AM mic.
Also, this clicking noise is louder at nights, but when the environment around is loud, then these clicks almost go away completely.
Have we found any resolution to these odd ticking noises yet ? I have a similar problem with the two new AudioMoths with the new cases. One gives a double tick at about 0.1 sec prf with a slightly stronger syncronised pulse at about 0.5 sec the other gives a single pulse at 0.1 sec ? These are soft admittedly. but very annoying when trying to record/analyse Orthoptera calls when they become obtrusive played back at at 10 X time expansion.
Hello, I am experiencing a similar sort of clicking as described above, however I am not using any sort of enclosure beyond a plastic bag. I am getting this "click" consistently on several devices in several different conditions so I don't expect environmental noise. Has anyone had this problem with just plastic bags?
I will try and obtain an audiogram as well.
Further testing with a larger hole drilled (~5mm) and a piece of scotch tape over the hole and then cellophane show only very faint evidence of clicking noises. I'm going to say the acoustic membrane I got from China isn't so "acoustic" friendly. I've found a better quality product, hopefully, and will drill a slightly larger hole (~7-8mm) to try. Here's a screenshot using the scotch tape over the hole.
I am having a similar "clicking" problem at a different frequency (5-8kHz, 6.5-10kHZ). I have identified it has to do with the cover of my case. Why? What can I do?
I have used a waterproof junction box similar to what others have posted. I've removed the battery tray and soldered dual JST connectors onto the board. I am using a 3.7v 4400mah Lion battery. Voltage for these test was at 4.2v. Settings were 48kHz with medium gain. Firmware 1.2.2. Sandisk Extreme 128GB.
Our focus is primates and birds. Is this going to make life miserable when it comes to using software to sort/identify vocalizations?
Here is what I get with everything closed up.
Here is what I get with board still mounted to cover but separated from box with battery. Notice frequency change.
Here is what I get with board removed from cover. Nice and clean.
I have same problem but on even a higher frequency of 35.9 kHz as you can see in the Batexplorer picture of a 192 kHz medium gain recording , creating a problem with identifying bat calls. Trying to find out if the frequency and strength of signal is maybe influenced by temperature of the unit.
