When trying to view the output from an AudioMoth USBmicrophone with the OxfordWaveResearch Spectrum View App on an iPad Pro tablet the AudiuoMoth is not recognised by the tablet when connected via the USB C socket with an Apple "USB C to USB" adapter. The iPad/SpectrumView App does recognise a Dodotronic Ultramic 250K connected via the same adapter.
However, the AudioMoth (and Dodotronic Ultramic 250K) is recognised by an iPhone X running the SpectrumView App with an Apple "USB to Lightning" adapter ?
Is this a known problem ?

Hi, indeed I am mystified !!!!!
and again yes, I have been perturbed a few times with forgetting to switch to 'CUSTOM' etc !
I will let you know if an alternative extension cable works ????????
Thanks for your, as always, very prompt help and advice !
Hi Alex
The AudioMoth USBMic was running the 1.2.4 firmware but is now running the latest 1.3.0 firmware with the same results.
HOWEVER !!!!! It seems that the extension cable used for the AudioMoth USB mic (AMUSBM) may be the problem on the iPad with adapter connector !
This extension cable works perfectly fine connecting the AMUSBM to the Laptop and running the AudiioMoth Live App etc
!!!! But not it seems when connected to the iPad USB C input with the APPLE adapter !
See below, APPLE USB C to USB adapter (which works fine with the Dodotronic mic, although a different extension cable !) ???
The extension cable wasn't a 'cheap' cable so had thought it should be a 'data cable' as advertised and it seems most of the time IS. I will try an alternative to see if that makes any difference !
For info'. Ultrasonic App not recognising AMUSBM as alternative input device with the same extension cable either !
Hi Martin,
I’ve tried this app on an iPad Pro with both a micro-USB to USB-C cable, and a micro-USB to USB-A cable with the Apple USB-A to USB-C adaptor, and both work fine.
Do you know what firmware version the AudioMoth USB Microphone is using? Is the USB cable definitely suitable for data transfer - some USB cables are just charging cables with no data lines.
The 'SpectrumView' app only seems to support recording and viewing at up to 48kHz. On iPad Pro I use the ‘Ultrasonic’ app which supports recording at high frequencies to capture bats.
