This may not be easily interpreted from the chart I included so I wanted to clarify that the values there only compare performance with ziplocs and performance with the case at a single time step: 75 hours after case closure. It may be possible that after that 3-day period the case would still have some equalising to do but we tried to give it plenty of time to reduce the likelihood that the equalising was the issue. So, I wanted to clarify that our test (albeit very small) didn't provide evidence of performance improvement over time, given we only measured once at 75 hours post-closure.
Fortunately, we've heard anecdotally that the cases don't seem to be a concern for AudioMoths programmed to record bats (perhaps due to the high frequencies?), so we are planning to use the cases for our bat monitoring work. But for multi-species avian monitoring we are concerned the cases would provide too significant a trade-off in loss of species detections to justify their use for protection from the elements.
