I configured a bank of 8 AM last night using Firmware 1.4.3 and config app 1.3.4 with: Sleep duration (s) : 1 Recording duration (s) : 10 As expected this recorded onto the Sandisc Extremes a file every 11 secs right through the night without fail on all the AM. However every file recorded is actually 9 secs long. Is this? A bug in config App or firmware? A oddity of writing to the Sd cards with such a small sleep? A "design feature" to prevent small sleep settings? Perhaps this is fixed in Config App. 1.3.5?? 😉

Amazing work! https://www.openacousticdevices.info/mmoth Clearly it is early days, but obviously so many questions pop into mind ... - Off board Lithium ion battery, with a onboad connecter? (So you can choose any size LiOn? or LiPo? like - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-2000mah-1s-1c-lipoly-w-2-pin-jst-ph-connector.html ?) - Any Battery life / runtime estimates vs AM1.1? - Cost? Double side so more expensive? - etc, etc, etc ... Anything else to share with us yet??

Having recently got my v1.1 AM in GG round7, I'm really pleased to report that the recessed card and switch, means it fits really well in this case sized 85x58x33mm: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Waterproof-Plastic-Electronic-Instrument-Project-Enclosure-Box-Case-US/253320952007 The width is a perfect snug fit, with small fillets of (camping mat) foam for the length in either end of lid, and also on the base. As was used in the recent British Bat Survey 2019 SW pilot (BBS19) I have used two layers of metal mesh treated with NicWax over the Mic- https://www.inoxia.co.uk/products/mesh/sheets/500-mesh Pros of this case: - Small sized, but has thick plastic making it strong. For example a bit smaller and much stronger than the OBO Bettermann Junction Box (A8 75x75x36mm) used for the BBS19 survey, and also here. - A proper waterproof compressed rubber seal, mean this is very likely to be fully waterproof case - Not as cheap as the OBO A8, but at around £1.50 GBP its not expensive Cons: - Four small screens to lose in the field, and screwdriver to carry. - AMv1.1 only., It is too narrow for a AMv1.0 Overall I think I'll use these case for AM v1.1 in damp, or less secure situations. But if it is a dry and secure site I think I'll stick with the convenience of the OBO A8 case.

I recently took part on the SW pilot for the BCT's British Bat survey - https://www.bats.org.uk/our-work/national-bat-monitoring-programme/british-bat-survey To setup the AM's used for the BBS, a "Chime" consisting of 4 notes was played from a device (phone .. etc) and this configured the AM. https://www.bats.org.uk/our-work/national-bat-monitoring-programme/british-bat-survey/configure-your-audiomoth I "assume" this was done with some custom firmware?, waiting for specific tones? As I suspect that just 4 notes cannot carry all the config. info needed? Can anyone confirm? Just asking, as being able to re-configure a AM in the field, with just a phone was very useful.

Hi Alex back on Oct 16, 2018 you said: "On AudioMoth 2 we're going to use two AA batteries and a 3.3V voltage booster IC to increase the battery voltage up to 3.3V. This is a bit less efficient than a voltage regulator but you win that loss back by being able to drain the batteries completely and access their full capacity. It also makes the device a bit smaller and cheaper to deploy. The newer processor also uses significantly less power." Is this still been planned? Is so, are there any thoughts on the timeline for this new design? Will AM2 be with us for the start of the survey season next year, Spring 2020? Or perhaps should we plan on the 2021 season? PS - Loving the Round 7 devices that turned up this week! Keep up the good work!
