Local time
Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the latest AudioMoth Configuration App and firmware.
In the past (firmware 1.8.1), the Configuration App displayed the device time as UTC+2 (my local time in Italy), and the recording schedule was also shown in local time (e.g. 06:00–09:00 UTC+2).
I have now updated to firmware 1.12.1, and the Configuration App displays only UTC. The recording schedule is also labeled as UTC (for example, “06:30–10:30 (UTC)”).
Has the Configuration App changed to using UTC only for scheduling, or is there a setting to display and configure recording periods in local time?
For example, if I want the AudioMoth to record from 06:30 to 10:30 local time in Italy (currently UTC+2), should I configure it as 04:30–08:30 UTC?
I just want to make sure I understand the new behavior correctly before deploying my devices.
Thank you very much!
Hi,
This aspect of the app and firmware hasn’t changed. By default the Config App will show the device time and schedules in UTC. You can select ‘Local’ under the ‘Time’ menu option to set the time zone the local time zone in which your computer is currently located, or select a ‘Custom’ time zone. Whichever time zone is selected at the time the AudioMoth is configured will be used for the file names and timestamps.
